Addicted.... to what?!?

So, I have a new addiction in addition to my Starbucks addiction. You will never guess.....wait for it.... wait for it...... EXERCISE! It is all I think about.

One of the best decisions I made was hiring a personal trianer. Thanks to Mike (trainer) I am in the best shape of my life thus far. I took a kickboxing class last night AFTER I had already worked out on my own for 45 min and I felt amazing! I wasnt too winded, I was able to push it hard, and I felt so good when a big muscular dude had to leave the class because it was too hard, yet I kept punching. YAY!

I think I am addicted now because I am starting to see results. I have had people notice that I look thinner, and today I looked in the mirror and saw my cheek bones! Those havent popped out in years. I feel energized and ready to take on the world. I can only imagine what I will feel like 50 pounds lighter!

Rude Awakening

I am conflicted. I have been a vegetarian for 11 months and have enjoyed feeling better internally from a digestive standpoint, and a feel good in my heart standpoint. But, I also need to lose 50-60 pounds to be at a healthy weight and being a vegetarian is holding me back.

The problem with being veg is that I end up eating complex carbohydrates to make up for the lack of substance I have with my veggie and fruit meals. Also, the meat and dairy substitutes tend to be very high in calories and soy which has a lot of estrogen. Estrogen is a big culprit for causing unwanted belly fat to stick around your middle. Not to mention that I already have very high estrogen levels to begin with.

Because I am working out intesively I need food that is going to get me through the workouts, so vegetables are not cutting it. I have felt very light headed and lethargic the last couple workouts, even with protein shakes. My trainer is married to a nutritionist/dietition and she is looking over my diet the last 14 days to see what improvements I can make, but overall it looks like I am going to have to give up carbs and eat a minimal amount of chicken and or turkey.

I hate to do it because I feel so much better not eating it, but then again. I want and need to lose weight. So which one is healthier? Being overweight and being veg, or working toward a normal weight and eating meat. I can tell you how the animals would answer!

Addict

I felt a lump of guilt in the depths of my stomach as I made the all familiar trip to ease my daily withdrawal. Every thought leading up to this moment was fixated on the cravings lying within. I scanned the parking lot for any known witnesses, cautiously making my way to the glistening doors. As I entered, the aroma almost knocked me over with delight. After one whole week of gut-wrenching hell, I finally reached utopia. The words of my trainer rang loud in my ear, "Don't Do It!" but I ignored his advice and followed my impulses. I rushed to the counter and blurted, "I'd like a Venti Iced Decaf Americano!"

This is my addiction.

YAY!

Jump on the train folks!

Buffmeister!

I now have a personal trainer, and I LOVE IT! It is hard, and I am sore, but I don't have to think about what to do at the gym twice a week now. He just tells me what to do, and I do it. I have already noticed a difference in my body after 3 sessions and workouts on my own. I feel very athletic and my muscles seem to be reacting nicely to it. I am now hoping I can slim up and take off the fat.
One day at a time. :)
